Sunday 17th July was the first race of the Jersey Paddle Club race series 2022. With temperatures due to reach 34°c during the day, the beach at St Brelades Bay was starting to get busy with swimmers and boats at the start of the race.

There was a good number of entrants across all craft (with a few not attending, most likely due to the heat forecast!) The SUP course was a tough battle with the wind that wasn’t expected to be as strong as it was. There was a kit of side chop & side wind for the duration. For thr experienced racers, with 4 laps of the course, and a beach transition run between each lap, the total distance was approximately 6.5km. For the newer paddlers they completed 1 lap of the same course, which was testing!!

The Ski race was further out of the bay, using the 5 knot marker buoys. They completed a triangular course with some upwind, downwind and sidewind conditions. The total distance of the ski race was just over 8km.

This is the first in 4 races (with your top 3 results counting towards the overall series results.
